Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice developed in the 1920s by Mikao Usui. It is a gentle method used to support relaxation, ease stress, and promote a sense of balance.
Reiki may help the body shift out of the “fight or flight” stress response (the sympathetic nervous system) and into a more relaxed, restorative state (the parasympathetic nervous system). This is important because the body does its best healing and regulation when it feels safe and at rest—chronic stress can impact sleep, mood, and overall health.
Sessions can be hands-on, hands-off (no touch), or done at a distance, allowing you to receive Reiki wherever you are.
Reiki supports overall well-being and is not a replacement for medical or veterinary care.
-
Distance Reiki works through focused intention rather than physical proximity. Because Reiki is not limited by touch, it can be shared across any distance.
You can think of it like a radio or Wi-Fi signal—connection does not require being in the same room. During a distance session, the practitioner focuses their attention and intention on you (or your animal), creating a calm, supportive space for relaxation and balance, wherever you are.
Many people experience Distance Reiki as just as calming and grounding as an in-person session.
-
Distance Reiki offers the same calming, supportive experience as an in-person session, just without needing to be in the same space. It can help both people and animals settle into a more relaxed state, which supports overall well-being.
Many clients report feeling more at ease, sleeping better, and experiencing reduced stress or tension. For animals, Reiki can be especially helpful in promoting calm behavior, easing anxiety, and supporting them during times of change or recovery.
-
Distance Reiki is a great option for anyone who prefers to receive sessions from the comfort of their own space. It can be especially helpful for:
Busy or remote clients who cannot attend in person
Those who prefer a no-touch experience
Animals who feel more comfortable in their home environment
Situations involving stress, transitions, or recovery (for both people and pets)
Because it is gentle and non-invasive, Reiki can be a supportive addition for anyone looking to feel more balanced, calm, and grounded.

Right before your scheduled session, we will connect briefly by phone, text, or video—whatever feels most comfortable for you. We will talk about your intentions and anything you would like support with.
Once we finish, you will settle into a comfortable space where you can relax without distractions. From there, I will begin your session by connecting with you energetically.
After the session, I will give you a few minutes to gently come back to center. Then we will reconnect to talk about your experience, and I will share anything I noticed or any messages that came through during your session.

You do not need to do anything specific to prepare for Reiki.
That said, Reiki often feels deeper and more supportive when your body is relaxed and well cared for. If you would like to prepare, a few simple things can help:
Drink water before and after your session, eat nourishing whole foods if you can, and give yourself permission to slow down a little.
Creating a calm space can also enhance your experience. This might look like getting cozy in bed, sitting somewhere peaceful, listening to music you enjoy, or simply turning your phone off for a while. If you choose to be in the same space as me during Distance Reiki, I will also share the music I am using so you can match the energy if you would like.
Some people like to set the mood with candles, incense, essential oils, soft lighting, or an eye mask—but none of this is required. It is really about whatever helps you feel safe, comfortable, and at ease.
After your session, try to give yourself a little time to rest, hydrate, and gently return to your day.

You do not need to do anything special to prepare your animal for Reiki.
The most helpful thing is to let them be in a comfortable, familiar space where they already feel safe—this might be their bed, a favorite resting spot, or anywhere they naturally choose to relax.
If possible, ensure they have access to fresh water before and after the session.
Keeping the environment calm can also help—soft lighting, a quiet space, and minimal distractions are ideal. Some animals like to stay close to their person, while others prefer to move around or rest on their own. Either is completely fine.
I will also share the music I use during the session, as many animals are highly receptive to sound and may find it soothing.
After the session, simply allow them to rest and come back to themselves in their own time.

Reiki is not a religion. It is a complementary energy healing technique that does not require any specific religious beliefs or the worship of a deity.
-
No. Reiki is a supportive complementary practice and is not a substitute for medical or veterinary care. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions and should be used alongside professional healthcare or veterinary treatment when needed.
